BARGAIN HUNTERS TRACK DOWN EPCs FROM THE RLA
Private sector landlords went on a ‘cheap as chips’ bargain hunt when Energy Performance Certificates appeared on the Residential Landlords Association website.
Over 200 were sold in under 12 hours - at less than half the price of some suppliers.
At a member rate of £55 for up to five bedroomed properties, £65 for six to eight bedrooms, discounts up to 20 per cent for property portfolios, and as little as £10 extra for non-members, they were “flying out” – according to RLA chairman Lee Dribben.
“The savings are even attracting new members because they can recover the cost of their RLA membership fee straight away and effectively join for free.
“We’re not here to make money out of landlords, many of whom are confused by the lack of clarity in this new legislation - especially when it comes to the subtle differences in shared HMO’s. That’s why the RLA website - www.rla.org.uk - also carries a definitive guide on precisely when an EPC is needed and how to improve a property’s energy performance.”
Energy Performance Certificates are required for rented properties from 1st October 2008.
