The Residential Landlords Association is reminding members who have tenancies that started on or after 1st October 2015 that they will have to use the new Section 21 form if they need to evict tenants.

Landlords need to be using the form marked 6A.  If they have been serving Section 21s at the start of a new tenancy, they need to be aware that they are invalid and will have to be served again from the first day of month five.

They will also need to be sure that the tenant has the Energy Performance Certificate, gas safety certificate and a copy of the Government’s ‘How to Rent – a checklist for renting in England’, as well as making sure the deposit is properly protected.
