He has been involved in most of the major social security changes since the early 80’s when Housing Benefit was first introduced. Gary Oakford is a serving Group Manager for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, he has been employed by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority since 1992 holding a number of Operational and Managerial roles. He is currently the Prevention Lead Officer and his key responsibilities are to provide leadership, support and guidance for all Prevention staff. He plans, develops and monitor a wide range of prevention and protection strategies to reduce the levels of risk from fire and other emergency incidents across Merseyside. He is also required to attend and provide strategic advice at fire service operational incidents and multi-agency exercises and take command where appropriate. Fresh out of completing her degree in International Politics at Aberystwyth University, India is currently working on updating and maintaining the Local Authority Network. This is of importance as it strengthens communication and understanding between landlords, local authorities and the RLA. India is working towards gathering concise and clear data from all 435 local authorities on their licencing and fees, monitoring and notifying those who are charging landlords unlawfully.
Before joining the RLA India worked at Martin and Co Lettings Agent in her home town of Derby, the Welsh Assembly where she researched the Welsh Governments failure to deliver on their election promises, and her local MP, alongside helping her parents run the family buy-to-let business.
