As of the 21st June 2013, local council has followed through with consultation regarding whether or not additional licencing would be pursued.
The designation will come into force on the 1st of January 2014 and will last until the 31st of December 2018. A map of the area covered and a list of roads included can be viewed at www.bathnesgov.uk/hmos .
The RLA is urging landlords, property managers, and letting agents in the area to be aware of the changes and to seek advice on whether their property is affected by the designation by contacting Housing Services.
The proposed scheme includes all houses in multiple occupancy (HMOs) in the designated area that are not already subject to mandatory licencing.
- Buildings converted entirely into self-contained flats (s257 HMOs), although the individual flats maybe licensable in their own right.
- Purpose built student accommodation where the organisation which manages the building is subject to a national approved code of practice and the building in question is subject to that code.
