The DWP has published an updated form for landlords to complete to request payment of rent from a tenant’s Universal Credit.
The DWP has made changes to the way landlords using both Managed Payment to Landlords and Third Party Deduction for rent arrears APA (UC47) forms on gov.uk can access the paperwork.
Landlords who click on the web page link UC47 form, will now be presented with an online version of the form which will generate a few questions.
They will be asked to provide their tenant’s postcode and confirm what type of email address they are using and will then be given with the appropriate form for download and completion and the correct DWP email address to use (for full or live service).
The DWP says this will help speed up the current processing times by identifying if tenants are living in a current Universal Credit Full Service or Live Service area.
It will also ensure you are completing the correct version of the form based on your email address and sending it to the correct team in DWP for action.
You will still be able to access the UC47 Managed Payment to landlord form link from the DWP Universal Credit and Landlords web page.
Landlords who want to know more about how the system works or who have any other non-case specific question, should contact their local Jobcentre Plus engagement team or Partnership Manager.
The DWP has also updated its guides explaining what Universal Credit means for landlords, local authorities and tenants.
The RLA has more information for landlords with tenants on Universal Credit in its direct payments for universal credit guide.
If you would like to know more about UC, the RLA also runs training course on Universal Credit offering in depth look at how the benefit operates, the impact on tenants and on landlords’ collection arrangements, rental income and arrears control.
