Julie James AM has been named as the new Minister for Housing and Local Government in Wales.

The appointment was made just before Christmas, with Hannah Blythyn AM being named the new Deputy Minister for Housing and Local Government.

Julie is the Assembly Member for Swansea West, and prior to taking up her new Ministerial position, she was the Leader of the House and Chief Whip since 2017.

Julie replaces Rebecca Evans in the role, who is now the Minister for Finance and Trefnydd. During her time as Housing Minister in Wales, Rebecca addressed delegates at both of the RLA’s Future Renting conferences.

On her new appointment, Rebecca Evans tweeted the RLA saying that she enjoyed working with the association.

Thank you – I enjoyed working with you!— Rebecca Evans AM (@RebeccaEvansAM) December 13, 2018
