The Ministry of housing, Communities and Local Government has published the March edition of its private rented sector newsletter.

This month’s edition, which can be read online here, includes details of Government guidance that has recently been published relating to Client Money Protection and the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.

Selective Licensing

The newsletter also includes details of the outcome of the Brown v Hyndburn Borough Council case, around the conditions that can be imposed in selective licensing schemes. The RLA has already been writing to councils asking what account they have taken of this important case.

RLA guidance

The RLA has also produced guidance on some of the topics that have been included in the MHCLG newsletter. This includes guidance on upcoming Fitness for Human Habitation legislation, and Client Money Protection.
