New 2019 classroom training dates announced

The RLA’s training academy has announced new classroom training dates for 2019.

If you’re a new landlord, our classroom courses are the perfect way to gain a thorough understanding of what you are required to know as a landlord, ask our expert trainers questions and meet other landlords in your area.

If you are an experienced landlord and you want to refresh your knowledge of a particular area, for example fire safety, then our classroom courses are ideal.

Landlord Principles of Lettings
If you are letting a property it is crucial to have a legal understanding of the main issues involved.  This course is suitable for new landlords and landlords who want to refresh their overall knowledge. It covers pre-tenancy, managing a tenancy and ending a tenancy. With dates in
Birmingham, Leeds, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Preston and Stockport next year, book your place.

Agents Principles of Lettings

This course is designed specifically for letting agents. It is for new letting agents, or anyone who wants a refresher on all the key aspects of lettings. Taught by an experienced trainer, herself a letting agent and a landlord and with dates in Birmingham, Leeds, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Preston and Stockport next year, book your place today.

Principles of HMO

This one day course is designed to suit landlords, managers and letting/managing agents. It is perfect if you are considering on investing in a house of multiple occupation, or you already have and want to understand the additional requirements that come with this. The course is taught by an experienced landlord, and there are dates next year in Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Preston and Stockport.

Landlords Update of the Law

As a landlord, there are hundreds of regulations to comply with, and it is vital that you keep up to date with the law. Our Landlords Update course, this year in London, Stockport and Manchester will make sure you are fully up to speed with the law. Please note we also have an Agents Law Update course, designed for letting agents.

Rent Smart Wales

If you are a landlord in Wales, then you will know that you need to register with Rent Smart Wales. The RLA provides training courses, and next year we are running a course in Cardiff and Llandudno.

1 day PAT testing course

Landlords have a duty to ensure electrics are safe and in full working order at the start of a tenancy and PAT testing is a recommended way to maintain your equipment in a safe and compliant manner. We have two dates next year for this classroom course, in Oldham and London.

Energy Efficiency Regulations.

It is already nearly a year since new minimum energy efficiency regulations were introduced and our course will run through all landlords need to know when it comes to energy efficiency. There are classroom dates throughout the year for this course in London and Manchester.

We also have a Practical Energy Rating Improvements course, with dates next year in London and Manchester.

Condensation and Dampness

Did you know that the private rented sector has the highest incidence of condensation and dampness and is one of the main reasons tenants complain to their local Council? Our classroom course will teach you how to reduce condensation in your rental property. With dates during next year in London and Manchester.

Property Standards and Safety

The most important legal obligation for the condition of rented properties is not concerned with whether or not your premises are in good repair, but its effect on the health and safety of the occupants and visitors. Our course, with dates in Bristol, Leeds, London and Manchester will give you practical guidance on current property standards and outline the law.

Utilities Safety

This half day course covers what landlords need to know about gas, electrical and fire safety. It’s a half day course, with dates next year in Manchester and London.

Complete Fire Safety

To gain an even deeper knowledge of fire safety, why not sign up for our Complete Fire Safety classroom course. With dates in Cardiff, London and Manchester, you’ll learn all about the various regulations, and your obligations as a landlord as well as practical fire safety advice. Suitable for both single dwellings and HMO properties.

Universal Credit

By the end of 2018 all Job Centres across the UK will have rolled out with Universal Credit ‘Full Service’. This will mean that tenants will have to make their claim, manage their claim all online and will receive their housing costs as part of one monthly payment if eligible. Next year, we have classroom dates for this course in Birmingham, Leeds, London and Manchester. Taught by LHA and Universal Credit expert Bill Irvine, book your place today.

Gaining Possession

Whether you have questions about the Section 8 or the Section 21 process, or perhaps want to refresh your knowledge on the topic of ending a tenancy as a whole, our gaining possession course is for you. We have dates next year across the country for this course, in Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, London, Manchester, Preston, Sheffield and Stockport.

Tax

Next year we have classroom dates for both our Property Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance courses in London and Manchester.
