Section 21(4) – Note: This must expire on the last day of a period of the tenancy

Debate surrounding evictions within the Private Rented Sector (PRS) hit fever pitch in 2014 and is unlikely to subside considering 2015 is an election year. The RLA has reviewed its documents and has produced guidance to ensure that if a landlord has to go through the unfortunate circumstance of evicting a tenant, can do so to the letter of the law and efficiently as possible. Universal Credit guide for private landlords update: 18.09.14

Universal Credit is starting to replace existing benefits and will be paid in one lump payment. At present the Scheme is being rolled out in the North West with national roll-out starting in February 2015.

Legionnaires’ guidance update: 16.10.14

Landlords of residential accommodation have responsibilities for combating Legionnaires’ Disease. Health and Safety legislation requires that landlords carry our risk assessments for the Legionella bacteria which cause Legionnaires’ Disease. Most rented properties will be low risk but it is important that risk assessments are carried out and control measures introduced. Read more…

Further updates – February 2015

In a bid to ensure that RLA members, and anyone who uses our services, are as up to date as possible, we want to announce FURTHER updates to various important documents.

The following documents have been updated to include 2015 references for legal contracts:

  • Standard AST
  • Room-only AST
  • DepositGuard AST
  • DepositGuard room-only AST

All documents have been updated to be legally sound for 2015 and include privacy notice and completion notes to make it even easier to complete in full.
