Independent research for the NRLA published this week, showing most tenants have been able to pay their rent as normal during the pandemic, has been included in a briefing paper published by the commons library.
The paper, “Coronavirus: A ban on evictions and help for rough sleepers” includes new measures introduced by the government.
Included within the briefing paper is the NRLA’s recent research showing that 90% of tenants reported being able to pay rent as normal during the pandemic.
Most tenants- 84%- hadn’t needed to ask their landlord for support, but of those that did in three quarters of cases landlord were accommodating.
This research disputes some claims that when the eviction ban lifts there will be a spike in evictions. You can read the research here.
The Housing Secretary announced on Friday 5th June that the eviction ban will be extended in England and Wales, for two months.
