Property Ombudsman, Katrine Sporle CBE, has been confirmed as the latest speaker at the RLA’s next Future Renting conference.

Katrine will be part of a panel delivering a session on “Tenants, or consumers – the way ahead”.

This will explore the Government’s plans to force landlords to join a redress scheme, the tenants’ fee ban, Fitness for Human Habitation Bill, and other plans to introduce more consumer protection for tenants.

Katrine took up her role as The Property Ombudsman in 2015, and has also held the position of Chief Executive of the Planning Inspectorate for England and Wales for eight years. Prior to this she spent nine years as the Chief Executive of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

She joins a line-up of speakers including property expert Kate Faulkner, Richard Tacagni, founder and Managing Director of London Property LicensingDr David Smith, partner at Anthony Gold Solicitors and RLA policy director, and PEARL senior researcher Dr Tom Simcock.

The one-day conference will be held at Imperial College London’s Kensington campus on September 13 and comes hot on the heels of successful events in Wales and Manchester.

A packed agenda will see a range of expert speakers address delegates on issues including legislation changes, tax, welfare reform, licensing and fire safety.

There will also be the opportunity to meet other landlords and agents, share experiences and pick up advice, support and offers from a range of exhibitors.

The conference welcomes anyone with an interest in private rented housing, from landlords with just one property to those with larger portfolios, letting agency owners, local authority councillors and officers, journalists, and housing charities.

Early bird tickets are now on sale priced at £50 for members and £65 for non-members, including lunch and refreshments.
