The RLA has unveiled its events programme for the 2013 Labour and Conservative party conferences.

The RLA will be involved in four events during conference season, hosting two of its own events, and teaming up with its fellow Homes for Britain core partners to host another two events.

The events programme is as follows:

Homes for Britain reception (Labour Party Conference)

Date: Monday 23 September

Time: 7.30-9.00pm

Venue: Kings East, De Vere Grand Hotel, Brighton (secure zone)

Chaired by: Grainia Long, Chief Executive, Chartered Institute of Housing

Speakers: Jack Dromey MP, Shadow Housing Minister, John Cridland CBE, CBI Director General, Ben Marshall, IPSOS Mori Research Director.

Details: Join Homes for Britain at its drinks reception and hear from key policy makers and influencers about the best ways to deliver growth in the housing industry.

Drinks and food provided.

Homes fit for families: Achieving a quality, safe, competitive private rented sector (Labour Party Conference)

Date: Tuesday 24th September 2013

Time: 1.00-2.00pm

Venue: The Library, Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel (secure zone)

Chaired by: Rt Hon Paul Goggins MP, Vice Chairman of the APPG for the Private Rented Sector

Speakers: Jack Dromey MP, Shadow Housing Minister; Alan Ward, RLA Chairman; and, Cllr Clyde Loakes, Vice Chairman of the LGA Environment & Housing Board (tbc).

Details: With increasing numbers of people now relying on the private rented sector for a place to live, how do we best ensure the sector is best able to supply high standard accommodation at affordable rents without stifling much needed growth?

Private rented housing – A manifesto for growth (Conservative Party Conference)

Date: Monday 30th September

Time: 5.30-7.00pm

Venue: Exchange 8, Manchester Central (secure zone)

Chaired by: Oliver Colvile MP, Chairman of the APPG for the Private Rented Sector

Speakers: Rt. Hon. John Redwood MP, Chairman of the Conservative Economic Affairs Committee; Alex Morton, Head of Housing, Planning and Urban Policy at Policy Exchange; Alan Ward, RLA Chairman.

Details: With 20 per cent of households expected to be in the private rented sector by 2016, the solution may partly lie with institutional investment but mostly with the 90 per cent of landlords who are individuals or couples. What needs to be done to encourage them to boost supply to meet the demand for high quality, affordable accommodation?

Chaired by: Leslie Morphy OBE, Chief Executive, Crisis

Speakers: Mark Prisk MP, Housing Minister, Cllr Sir Merrick Cockell, LGA Chairman, Ben Marshall, IPSOS Mori Research Director.

The Labour party annual conference 2013 will be held in Brighton this year from Sunday the 22nd through to Wednesday the 25th of September.
