RLA Chairman Alan Ward has been given a lifetime achievement award by the Federation of Small Businesses.

Alan was one of 11 winners in the North West region in the FSB and Worldpay UK Business Awards 2017, with judges praising his visionary approach and his work to grow the membership of the association.

A spokeswoman for the Federation of Small Businesses said: “The nomination for the award was evaluated by a panel of judges including sponsors and FSB partners.

“What impressed the judges was – as a founder member of RLA some 19 years ago – Alan had grown the association representing over 30,000 members and associates, driving organic growth in the business in a lean way whilst maintaining a high staff retention, demonstrating a visionary approach whilst utilising his own experience as a landlord.”

Alan said: “The news that I had received this award came as a delightful surprise and is a real honour.

“However, this award is really recognition of the hard work of the whole of the RLA team.

“The RLA was established to create a body that reflects and promotes the views and interests of landlords, and the job is not finished yet.

“I look forward to leading the association from strength to strength.”
