The Residential Landlords’ Association is today paying tribute to Paul Goggins, the former Labour MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East.

Paul Goggins was admitted to hospital on the 30th December after collapsing whilst going for a run with one of his sons. He subsequently passed away on the 7th January.

Mr. Goggins was instrumental in establishing the first All Party Parliamentary Group for the Private Rented Sector which the Residential Landlords Association provides the secretariat to. He served as the Group’s Vice Chairman.

He was also the Member of Parliament for the constituency in which the RLA’s offices are located and chaired the RLA’s fringe event at the 2013 Labour Party Conference.

Alan Ward, Chairman of the Residential Landlords’ Association, said, “My colleagues and I at the RLA were saddened to hear of the sudden death of Paul Goggins.

“In playing such a big role in establishing the All Party Group for the Private Rented Sector, Paul recognised the crucial importance of the sector.

“I will remember Paul as a kind, considerate and compassionate MP and extend our condolences to his family.”
