Heating and energy efficiency should be the key priorities for the Government according to a new Commons report, which quotes the Residential Landlords Association.

Tackling fuel poverty is among the issues flagged up by the association in response to a Government consultation, as well as concerns about an ageing housing stock. The RLA’s views have now been included in the Energy and Climate Change Committee report, setting out its priorities for Parliament for the coming year.

Richard Jones RLA policy consultant and company secretary said: “We want make sure that the Government recognises the serious issues facing private landlords due to the older housing stock in the rental sector which needs to be upgraded. Working with the committee gives us the opportunity of putting forward our concerns around energy efficiency as the sector faces minimum energy efficiency requirements.”
