Staff at the RLA have been putting their best feet forward, to raise money for Cancer Research.
So far, more than £300 has been raised through staff being sponsored and a raffle which was held last week, with donations continuing to come in.
It is in keeping with the new RLA value, of ‘going the extra mile’, following the RLA’s rebrand last month.
Some members of staff even went the extra mile and exceeding the 10,000 steps a day for the month of March.
Landlord Advice Team manager Rupinder Ajula walked over 460,000 steps, on one occasion exceeding 18,000 steps in a day.
She was inspired to take part in the challenge after being personally affected by a tumour two years ago.
She said: “One day I was at work, and I couldn’t see outside of my right eye. I just assumed it wasn’t serious, but I went to the doctors and after several checks, they told me I had a tumour on my brain. I went straight to Salford Royal for treatment.
“The tumour was benign and I received excellent care. For me, walking was my way of getting fitter and stronger again following my surgery. I wanted to take part in the challenge because everyone is affected by cancer in some way, and its important to raise money for such a good cause”.
The challenge was all part of “Walk Over Cancer’ for Cancer Research, a national movement where participants aim to raise as much money as they can by walking 10,000 steps in a day.
Rupinder recorded her steps on her fit bit, which was given to her as a present from her parents, after her surgery in 2016.
A raffle was also held at the RLA for those who still wanted to donate to the cause but felt that 10,000 steps was a tough ask.
The Just Giving page is still open, and there’s still time to donate and sponsor. Rupinder will be on hand to answer your questions at our Future Renting North conference in two weeks time. Tickets are just £45 for RLA members and £60 for non-members.
Good luck to our Landlord Advice Team Manager Rupinder, who is taking on the #WalkAllOverCancer challenge this month, aiming to do 10,000 steps a day to raise money for @CR_UK 👟👊 pic.twitter.com/bQMgv10imj
