Sheffield Council outline plans to review licences for HMOs at our roadshow

Sheffield Council are not planning to renew a Selective Licensing Scheme which is currently in operation in the city.

Speaking at the RLA’s Landlord Advice Roadshow last week, Peter Ramsey of Sheffield Council  told a packed room of landlords that the Council has ‘no plans’ to renew a Selective Licensing scheme in the city.

As well as this, they Council also said that they planned to review licenses for HMOs in the city.

Sheffield Landlord Advice Roadshow was the first roadshow of its kind to be hosted by the RLA. Training Manager at the RLA, Kitty Speakman said: “The roadshow was successful, the landlords who attended responded well to the speakers and asked some thoughtful questions. We are planning to host more landlord advice roadshows of this kind at different locations in the UK, and we will keep our members updated as to where and when these will be held”.

 

Carrie Kus, a Director at the RLA spoke to the audience about GDPR. Senior Researcher at RLA PEARL, Dr Tom Simcock also spoke about the latest trends in private renting, including that house prices in the North West have increased by 4.8%. An advisor from the Landlord Advice Team was also on hand to answer delegates’ questions.
