Tendring District Council has confirmed Article 4 Directions and will now require planning permission to make changes Class C3 to Class C4 homes.

As of 31st May 2013 Tendring District Council requires planning permission under the guidance of Article 4 Direction from the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995.

This means that anyone who wishes to change a dwelling from a Class C3 (family home) to a Class C4 HMO (homes in multiple occupancy) will now require planning permission from the council. This is set to apply to the entire Tendering District.

You can view the Tendring District Council response to the RLA’s request for withdrawal of the proposal here

A copy of the Direction, including a plan identifying the area covered, can be viewed at the Council Offices: Thorpe Road, Weeley, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex CO16 9AJ or can be viewed here…
